Statement:
My art practice began in response to a disintegrating sense of personhood after multiple experiences of sexual violence in college. The events completely redefined my understanding of womanhood and my relationship with my body. My work explores the residual echoes of violence and lies at the intersection of societal attitudes and interpersonal violence against women . Through the convergence of physical processes of printmaking and photographic self-portraiture, I am reminded of my presence in my body as I work to reclaim it as my own domain. My work weaves together the healing and hardships of living as a survivor.
